Grand Station Entertainment: A really Entertaining Place for Families!
April 1st, 2008 Categories: Community Events, Kids, Family & Personal Stuff
Developer Mike Logan has really done a wonderful job of creating a much needed place in College Station for family fun. The old and smokey Wolf Pen bowling alley and less than amusing skating rink is now a completely remodeled and redone 72,000 sqft Family Fun Center. Mike’s goal was to create a place that would bring fun, safe entertainment to people of all ages, and he has done exactly that.
The center now has 40 bowling lanes with state of the art automatic electronic scoring systems and everything from bumper lanes and lightweight bowling balls for kids to league and tournament bowling for the adults.
If bowling isn’t your thing, how about miniature golf? Grand station has a wonderful Old West Mini-Golf course called Tombstone. It is a colorful 18 hole Old West Glow-N-The-Dark miniature golf experience.
Laser tag is also a fantastic option! Real lasers are not used except for aiming and the game consists of two teams, one red and one blue. Each team consists of up to fifteen members. You obtain points for shooting members of the opposing team and lose points when you hit your own team members by mistake.
The computer system provides score tracking as well as enforcing the rules of engagement. All ages can play. I was really surprised at how safety oriented the facility was. My 4 year old played Laser Tag with College Kids and had a ball! There is also a sports bar with pool tables, a food court, and a arcade area.
For more information or to check out the facilities visit their website. Then head down for an afternoon of great family fun! I give it 4 Stars and 2 thumbs up all the way!!! Oh, and when you go, be prepared for a fun black-light experience…even the lights at the bowling alley get turned off at times for Black Light Bowling Fun.

Bowling, laser tag… HOW FUN! My children LOVE to play Laser Tag and “stake out their real estate”.
Did you see the bumpers for the kids bowling? It is GREAT! Even little kids or old people like me can bowl and succeed.
I agree that the center does appeal to the younger crowd but I have to say…being of the older crowd…I kind of miss the old feeling of a traditional bowling alley. You know, kind of dark, smells funny, loud people being slightly obnoxious, and old red, white and blue shoes that you know have seen more stinky feet than you want to think about and finally that bowling leauge night where everyone knows everyone and it feels like coming home every week. My parents used to bowl twice a week when my brother and I were kids. We grew up there finding change on the floor beneath the pin ball machines, hanging out with other bowling brats, eating that great fast food (nachos, hamburgers and chili cheese fries) and that feeling of happiness watching my parents doing something they loved.
I realize the new center will make those same kind of memories for others in a new way. Life is fun, huh?
My family spent the afternoon at Grand Station Entertainment last Saturday. We decided to try something different. Sometimes Bryan College Station is a little lacking in activities but the Grand Station was fabulous! We played air hockey, video games and staked out our real estate in laser tag. I didn’t think I would really get into laser tag but oh my! I LOVED it!
