Apparel Sizing for Toddlers: Should the Tag Match the Age?
April 13th, 2008 Categories: Kids, Family & Personal Stuff
Even though every child grows at thier own pace, companies have to create a sizing chart standard. This standard is based on 3 parts: The child’s age, height and weight. My daughter is 2 years old, in the 25% in weight and 75% in height. According to the average sizing chart in the United States, this means she wears a shirt size of 2T but a pants size of 12-18 months. Ok, so neither her father nor I are thick-boned, but that just doesn’t sound right to me. Should the tag match the age?

Hate to tell you but the sizing doesn’t get any easier the older they get. Since when does a high school girl age 16 wear a 3?
hmmm… In the extremely limited experience I’ve had it seems logical… Buy 12 month clothes for a 12 month old
I’m glad it doesn’t I wear a big enough size as it is.
In the 8 months I have with this, NO it never matches! At least they are helpful while they are younger putting tags with height and weight, because without that I would be lost! My daughter wears 9-12 month bottoms and 6-9 month tops since she was 5 months old! So I just look at the weight and go by that as much as possible for tops and height for pants. And when all else fails, I just buy both and bring back the one that doesn’t fit!
